APPROACH
Zoorna AI is the applied branch
of Zoorna Institute for Language, AI and Society.
We develop multilingual and culturally aware AI systems grounded in linguistic research. While the Institute focuses on research and education, Zoorna AI builds the prototypes, datasets, and applied systems that carry that knowledge into classrooms, communities, and industry.
Our goal is simple: to make language technology more inclusive, equitable, and useful to the people who need it most.
Projects
Our Projects
01
Multilingual
AI Tutor
A reading and learning companion for languages often overlooked online, beginning with Persian. It helps learners understand vocabulary and meaning in context, offering summaries and cultural cues drawn from real language use.

02
Tajik-Farsi
Transliteration Tool
Bridges two writing systems of the same language family. The tool automatically converts between Iranian Persian (Perso-Arabic script) and Tajik Persian (Cyrillic), opening access to shared texts for students, teachers, and researchers.
Prototype in progress
03
Timeline Intelligence
Builds clear, interactive timelines from large collections of text, tracing how events connect across time. Originally designed for geopolitical and policy analysis, it helps users follow the flow of change and make sense of complex developments.
Prototype in progress
04
Iranian Language Family AI Benchmark
Creates open datasets and evaluation tools for low-resource languages such as Persian, Kurdish, Balochi, and Tajik, ensuring that future AI systems serve speakers of all languages more fairly.
Initial Stages
05
Sanctuary Companion AI
An AI designed to help visitors at animal sanctuaries and rescues connect with the right companion. By learning from a visitor’s interactions and preferences, it suggests the dogs or cats most compatible with their lifestyle and temperament.

ABOUT
About
Zoorna AI
Zoorna AI is the applied research branch of the Zoorna Institute for Language, AI & Society.
Founded in 2024 by linguist and AI researcher Dr. Karine Megerdoomian, Zoorna AI was created to turn the Institute’s linguistic discoveries into practical, human-centered technologies that amplify voices from underrepresented and low-resource language communities.
Our projects grow from the same purpose that drives all of Zoorna’s work. We focus on multilingual and culturally aware systems—tools that help learners engage with complex texts, connect speakers across regions, and support ethical innovation in language technology.
Based in the United States with an international network of collaborators, Zoorna AI develops prototypes that begin as research questions and evolve into usable tools. Each initiative—whether a reading tutor, a transliteration platform, a timeline engine, or a humane adoption companion—reflects our commitment to equity, inclusiveness, and scientific integrity.
Our goal is simple: to make AI systems that listen to language, respect culture, and return knowledge to the communities that shaped it.
Zoorna AI brings together linguists, engineers, data scientists, and educators who share a commitment to human-centered technology. Our collaborators span universities, nonprofits, and independent research groups working across low-resource languages of the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.
